A note on SMS codes. Several websites list the Lahore Board code as a five-digit number, which is incomplete and will not deliver anything. The working code is 800291. Standard SMS charges apply, usually PKR 2 to 5, and the reply arrives in 30 to 90 seconds — longer during the first hour when traffic peaks.
2nd Year result 2026 date and time
The most searched question, answered first.
Quick answer: The 2nd Year Result 2026 (HSSC Part II) for all nine Punjab boards will be announced on 23 September 2026 at 10:00 AM. Students can check it online the same morning by roll number, by name, or by SMS.
The date is fixed by the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) so that no district receives its result before another. Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan all publish at the same hour, each on its own website. A press note carrying this date and time has already been issued on at least one board's letterhead, so this is a confirmed schedule rather than a rumoured one.
One practical detail is worth knowing before you sit refreshing a page at 09:59. Boards are rarely synchronised to the minute. In past years some portals have gone live ten or fifteen minutes after the official time while others were already serving results. A blank page at exactly 10:00 is almost never a problem at your end.
Position holders are typically announced separately, a day ahead of the full result — so don't be surprised if merit-list names circulate before the general result checker goes live for everyone else. The full result gazette PDF normally follows the main announcement by a short while, once boards finish compiling it.
This date is for Punjab only. Federal Board (FBISE) already announced its HSSC Part II result earlier in September, with a pass rate above 85%. Sindh, KPK, Balochistan and AJK boards run their own separate calendars — check the directory below for each.
2nd Year result check by roll number — four ways to do it
Each method gives you something different. Use the one that matches what you have on hand.
Quick answer: To check your 2nd Year Result 2026 by roll number, open your board's official website, go to Results, select HSSC Part II Annual 2026, type your roll number exactly as printed on your slip, and press Show Result.
1. By roll number (most detailed)
- Open your board's official website. The Results link sits in the top navigation on most board sites.
- Select HSSC Part II Annual 2026. Some boards label the same examination as 2nd Year Annual 2026 or Intermediate Part 2.
- Type the roll number exactly as printed on your slip — no spaces, no dashes, no letters in front of it.
- Press Show Result or View Result, depending on the board.
- Screenshot it and download the PDF if the board offers one. Detailed marks sheets do not stay online forever.
2. By name (when the slip is lost)
Most boards keep a Search by Name option on the result page. Enter your full name and your father's name exactly as they were written on the admission form, not as you normally spell them. A single different spelling returns nothing. Some boards, like Bahawalpur, also ask for a B-Form or CNIC number on the HSSC result form — keep that nearby too rather than assuming every board's form looks identical. If the name search fails, the gazette is the fallback.
3. By SMS (works with no internet)
Open your messaging app, type only the roll number, and send it to your board's shortcode from the directory above. The reply carries total marks, grade and pass status. It does not carry subject-wise marks — for those you need the website or your DMC.
On result morning this is usually faster than the websites, because the SMS gateway and the web servers are separate systems and only one of them is being hammered by traffic.
4. Through the gazette PDF
The gazette is the complete list of candidates with roll numbers, names and marks, published as a downloadable PDF. It normally appears a little while after the general result. Schools and colleges use it to check a whole batch at once, and students use it to search by name with Ctrl+F. It is also the most reliable option when the result portal is overloaded.
Result day problems and what actually fixes them
Every year the same handful of things go wrong. Here is what to do about each.
The website will not load or keeps timing out
This is server load, not your connection. Millions of students hit these portals within the same five minutes. Wait ten minutes rather than refreshing every second — repeated refreshes add to the queue you are stuck in. Meanwhile, send the SMS. If you must use the website, try it between 12 PM and 3 PM when the first rush has passed, or after 9 PM.
"Record not found" against a correct roll number
Three common causes. The board's database is still syncing in the first minutes after announcement — try again in fifteen minutes. You selected the wrong examination, for example HSSC Part I (1st Year) instead of Part II. Or you appeared as a private candidate and the board lists private results separately. If it still fails an hour later, ring the board's result enquiry desk.
The roll number slip is lost
Your school office keeps a copy of the roll number list for every candidate it registered — that is the fastest route. Otherwise use the name search, or open the gazette PDF and search for your name. Your admission form number or registration number can also help the board office trace you.
Marks look wrong for one subject
Before applying for rechecking, compare against the whole class. If several classmates report the same drop in the same subject, it is likely a marking pattern rather than an error on your paper. If it is only you, and the gap is large, rechecking is worth the fee.
Grading system and passing marks in 2026
This is genuinely unsettled for 2nd Year this year, so read it carefully rather than trusting a single number.
Pakistani boards are rolling out a new IBCC grading policy — a ten-point scale (A++ to U) that replaces the old letter grades and raises the usual pass threshold. What's unclear, and where sources currently disagree, is whether this new scheme already applies to the HSSC Part II (2nd Year) result in 2026, or whether — as some board FAQs suggest — its first phase covers only Grade 9 this year, with Intermediate classes following in a later phase.

Is the pass mark 33% or 40% for 2nd Year this time? Some current result-checking guides state a 40% per-subject minimum for the 2026 HSSC Part II result. Others — citing the IBCC's own phase-in FAQ — say the new 40% threshold started with Grade 9 in 2026, meaning Intermediate classes would still sit under the older 33% standard this year. We have not found a single board notification that settles this definitively for HSSC Part II. The only number that matters for your certificate is the one printed on your own result card, alongside your board's 2026 notification — check both rather than assuming either figure.
How the marks add up
Your final Intermediate certificate combines HSSC Part I (1st Year) and HSSC Part II (2nd Year) marks, the same way matric combines SSC Part 1 and Part 2. The exact total varies by group — FSc, ICS, ICom and general science all carry different subject combinations and, for science groups, a practical component alongside the theory paper. Because that total isn't identical across boards and groups, check your own board's marks-sheet key rather than assuming a single figure applies to everyone.
What the remarks on your result card mean
RL, RLE and UMC cause more panic than they should. Most are administrative, not academic.

Rechecking, supplementary and what comes next
Applying for rechecking
Boards open the rechecking window on the day the result is announced and typically keep it open for about 15 to 30 days. You apply per subject and pay a fee per subject through a bank challan or the board's online portal.
Understand what you are paying for. Rechecking is not remarking. The board verifies that every question was marked, that no page was skipped, and that the totals were added correctly. Genuine errors do surface — usually an unmarked question or an addition mistake — but the examiner does not re-judge your answers.
If you did not clear a subject
You sit that subject again in the supplementary examination, usually held a few months after the annual result. You do not repeat the whole year and you do not repeat the subjects you passed. Register through your college as soon as the schedule is announced, because late fees escalate steeply.
Improving your marks
If you passed but want a better aggregate for a competitive admission, boards allow improvement attempts within a set number of years of first passing. Weigh it honestly against your timeline — an improvement attempt usually means sitting the paper again the following year, which can clash with entry-test preparation or a university's own admission calendar.
What comes after 2nd Year
Your HSSC Part I and Part II marks combine into your Intermediate aggregate, which universities weight alongside your entry test score (MDCAT for medical colleges, ECAT for engineering, or a university's own test) for admission merit. Deadlines for these tests and university applications often overlap with result season, so many students apply provisionally before the final result is out, then confirm once marks are in.
A softer-than-hoped 2nd Year result is rarely final. Between rechecking, supplementary attempts, and how universities actually weight aggregate versus entry-test score, there is usually more room to recover your position than it feels like on result day itself.
