Abstract

The corona virus has emerged as the global epidemic of the 21st century, affecting millions of people and many countries around the world. Symptoms of the virus include high fever, dry cough and difficulty breathing. At the end of February 2020, the first case of corona virus was reported in Pakistan. With the gradual increase in the number of coronaries, the problem arose as to what strategy should be adopted in the mosques with regard to the five daily congregational prayers, Friday prayers, Taraweeh prayers in Ramadan and Eid prayers. Most of Pakistan's religious scholars, after collective consultation, issued a statement in March 2020 stating that mosques would not be closed in Pakistan. In a consultative meeting chaired by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in April 2020, scholars and mashaikh agreed on twenty points regarding the performance of prayers, Taraweeh, Friday and Eid prayers in mosques. We think that the efforts made by the ulema, mashaikh and the government in consultation with each other to keep the mosques inhabited during this period are commendable.
