Abstract

The researcher in linguistic and grammatical sources sometimes stands on a great deal of confusion in the use of terms for some grammatical phenomena. Intercalation in the language contains three letters. It is shown in two ways, one that is been studied by a number of scholars and researchers, it had been defined on many ways by different writers. While the other one is of two types, the second one is of two formulas depending on the number of letters used, with one letter it has two formulas while with two letters it has three formulas. The total meaning within this article is about 23 and presented in eight points. The intercalation idiomatically means the insertion of one or more words between two related words by deleting the inappropriate, a bunch of scholars studied about it aand include it in their books. Intercalation is one of the linguistic methods of the Arabs, whether it is in the word structure or in the compositions, and this method is widespread in their speech. Intercalation is of three kinds intercalation of nouns, intercalation of verbs and letters intercalation. The third intercalation is the most used intercalation. Grammarians have relied on using this term (intercalation) on two matters, the first one is dispensing with the intercalation, whether it is a noun, a verb, or a letter, in terms of parsing nothing else. The intercalated letter instead of adding the meaning to itself it adds the meaning to the sentence generally. The presence of intercalation in the Holy Quran is a particular feature while in the Arabic structures it is a general feature which is a representation of the beauty of the language. So many scholars, writers, and a number of researchers included the intercalation in their books, research and studied about it too.
