Abstract

This paper is an analytical study of the Textual coherence of Quranic discourse. Textual coherence is one of the most vital characteristics of text, and linguistics scholars have unanimously described the textual coherence as the basis for the text's structure and formulation. The Referral  (الإحالة and Conjunction (العطف) are the most common linguistic elements which play a great role in the textual coherence, since there is no text or sentence without Referral as linguistic elements related by what they refer to, and It is hard to imagine a text of two or more sentences without conjunction used to connect its parts. Keeping in view the importance of textual coherence as  a fundamental element in understanding the message, we intended to reveal the significance of these (Reference and Conjunction) linguistic tools and their role in forming a well- structured discourse.
