A research study of characteristics and Sources of Tafsir “Addur ul Mansor fi TAfsir bil Masoor”

Abstract

Tafsir of Allama jalal Ud Din Sayuti titled ‘Addur ul Mansor fi TAfsir bil Masoor’ is of the significant importance. In Tafsir Masur there is no big treasure of narrations of the Prophet (Peace be upon him). Allama Jalal Uddin Sayoti has encapsulated all the dimensions of Tafsir in these books. Either it is the importance of Sur or place of revelation or reasons of revelation or accents of recitation of difficult words or reasoning in Islamic Jurisprudence. But in the whole Tafsir he does not give his own opinion. In this research article analysis of methodology and characteristics of this Tafsir is conducted so that the reader should understand before studying it. Conclusion: He does not mention the chains o hadiths nor does he comments on every narration, so this book of Tafsir has become a collection of all kind of hadiths and Aathar. Many of these hadiths are fabricated and weak. Furthermore, the Allama has covered all aspects of the commentary, whether it is related to the virtue of the surahs, or the place of revelation, or the glory of revelation, or the recitation of the Qur'an, or the description of the Vocabularies of the Qur'an, or the Sayings of Jurists in jurisprudential rulings.Keywords:  Addur ul Mansor , tafsir sayot, Allama sayoti, Methodology, characteristics
