Abstract

This paper aims to elaborate the historical role of Bait ‘Aqbah in establishing the Islamic State of Madīnah after migration of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).  When the preaching of Islam in Makkah was difficult or impossible then the Prophet (PBUH) think to get a place where he can practice and spread Islam freely. This situation opened a new chapter of Islamic preaching.  In the meanwhile, the 11th   years of prophet-hood, some of the tribes of Madīnah came to Hajj. The Prophet (PBUH) presented the invitation of Islam to them.  In the second year, 12 men of the Khazrij tribe accepted Islam invitation from the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The 13th year of the Prophet-hood, 72 people from these tribes accepted an agreement, which is called Bait ‘Aqbah Thānῑyah in history of Islam. The most important points of this agreement were; Touhῑd, loyalty with Islam and security of the Prophet (PBUH) at all in any case. After three years, most of the people of the Khazrij tribe accepted Islam and Islam came out of Mecca and entered the limits of Medina. In order to illustrate Islamic teachings, the Prophet (PBUH) sent his famous companion Mus’b bin Umair for D’awah. He succeeded in Madīnah by his unique efforts. In a few days, the leader of the tribe of ‘Aws, S’ad bin Mu'az also embraced Islam. In this way, a large number of people of Madīnah continued to increase in the number of Muslims and gradually Islam became the majority religion of Madīnah. This agreement is an important aspect of the history of Islam, as a result of which the spread of Islam was attained. This allegiance resulted in a better future for Madīnah which ended political, religious and economic supremacy of Jews and polytheists. This commitment was originally intended to emigrate among the greatest events of history, which resulted to strengthening the Muslims in the first time in Arabia and Madīnah became the first Islamic State. This study reveals that Baite- ‘Aqbah Thānῑyah played key role to establish Islamic state of Madīnah. The analytical and historical research methods were used in this study in qualitative paradigm.
