Abstract

This study is a humble effort of exploring the poetry of a phenomenal first Abbasid poet Abū Yaʿqūb Al-Khuraymī (d-214H). The Arabic literature witnessed its height of civilizational prosperity during this era. The study focuses on the various objective and technical literary aspects of the Poet, as it is mentioned in the title of the study (The Poetry of Abū Yaqūb Al- Khuraymī, his life and Elegiac Poetry). The study is divided into two parts. The first part consists of precise introduction of poet’s life and His era, while the second part highlights and deals with the selected topic of the poem, as Abū Yaqūb Al- Khuraymī has successfully dealt with the most issues of His era such as elegy, praise, wisdom, ascetic, pride, description, plaint, courtship, satire and most importantly on the Elegiac Poetry.
