Research analysis of method of witnessing Moon sighting in light of Islamic shariah and modern science

Abstract

This article aims to describe the issue of evidence in moon sight in the light of Islamic law and modern science. In the present era, particularly in Pakistan, the people are facing many difficulties in the month of Ramadan and Eidulfitr due to the difference between Central moon sight committee and local committees established by government of Pakistan and the other private committees in this regard. Therefore, I have tried to discuss the root of the issue, which is regarding the evidence of the moon sight and its method which was formulated by Islamic law. The differences is mostly based on the method of presenting and accepting of the evidence of eyewitnesses, likewise, how will be these eyewitness examined and cross examined by the members of committees established for such purpose. Moreover it will also be discussed that can we get some guideline or help by modern science are not? It is important to note, that mostly examination

does not based on the rules provided by Shar’iah nor they apply modern astronomy tips while handling eyewitnesses. All members of moon sight

committee need to know and apply these rules and commands in this regard.
